Hi! I have a new story that may or may not have something to do with A New Journey. Enjoy!
Dashing through the woods at lightning speed. Carrying presents around with you. Desperately looking for a place to rest.
My name’s Momo, and I’m an arctic wolf. All the animals in my area have been given an option to volunteer in an adventure. We have to collect as many presents as we can. I signed up, thinking it would be fun, but I was totally wrong. The presents will be delivered to poor animal villages.
At the moment, I was dragging over sixty presents around the woods. We have a few hours to collect them. Anyway, I looked at my watch: only ten minutes left. I had two choices- take a break, or return the presents to the base. I made my choice.
I sprinted toward the enormous Christmas tree and dropped off all of the sixty-seven presents. Good. Now, I had to go home, but that was too far away. I figured it would be easier to just go back into the forest, but then I remembered: the next pack, the Green Trees, would arrive soon. My pack, the Pack of Dreams, called them GTs. With less than two minutes left, I darted toward the woods. I ducked under a tree, but a GT saw me.
“Hey!” she said. “You’re not in our pack!” she yelled. It was a red fox. I ran through the forest and she followed me. Gee, she was pretty fast. I looked back and didn’t notice the frozen lake in front of me until it was too late.
I had to come up with a plan. I barely had five seconds. So, right when I was in front of the lake, I jumped and madly swerved left in midair. Since the fox was running super fast, she couldn’t stop herself and skidded onto the lake. Her presents scattered everywhere. I felt a little bad for her, but I realized I was lost and kept walking.
I must’ve walked for hours. Lots of animals saw me, unfortunately. I ducked behind trees. I ran into bushes (accidentally). And… I bumped into a wolf. He scowled.
“You must be a Dreamer,” he said. “From the Pack of Dreams?”
“Um…yes,” I stammered. His voice was deep and he was a lot bigger than me. I was a little scared, to be honest.
“Well, what do you think you’re doing? It won’t be long ’til someone finds you.”
“Er, actually, a few people already have found me…”
“And you’re just gonna let yourself get caught like that? Really? Tell you what: help me haul these presents, and I’ll make sure no one sees you. Deal?”
“Dude, I…” I shifted uncomfortably. What if he was going to betray me?
“Listen, kid,” he said. “You gonna help me, or what? Ya’know, you’re riskin’ your life. The punishments for hangin’ out ’round here when it’s not your turn are harsh.”
“I guess I’ll think about it.”
“Fine. Say, what’s your name?”
“You’re not going to, like, betray me?”
“No. Duh.”
“Fine then,” I sighed. We walked toward the Christmas tree. He forced me to haul his presents. I dumped them off, but I didn’t like this guy too much.
“Kid,” he grumbled. “I asked you what your name was.”
“Momo. And you?” I inquired.
“Billy.” Suddenly, he turned around. His eyes widened. Billy grabbed me by my ears like I was a little puppy and ran in the opposite direction. We were at the Snowy Cabin, which is closed 24/7. He broke a window, tossed me in, and then jumped in.
“What the heck was that for?” I yelled.
“Shush, kid!” he said. “I saw the leader of the Green Trees. Her name’s Arctic Ice. She’s an arctic wolf, just like you. I’m afraid she already told the owner, Snowy Sugar.”
Maybe I should say a sentence or two about Snowy Sugar. Snowy is seriously rich. She owns the whole forest and Snowy Cabin. When she finds out about me staying in her forest when I’m not supposed to and then trespassing her cabin, I’m definitely going to be arrested.
I heard footsteps (or pawsteps?) outside the cabin. The cabin door clicked open. Billy and I just stood there. But Snowy Sugar wasn’t standing in the doorway. It was the fox I ran into earlier.
“Scarlet?” Billy said. “What are you doing here?”
“Snowy was absent today,” Scarlet announced. “So I’m filling in for her. I’ve collected a total of six thousand presents this month, so she obviously chose me.”
“You’re such a show-off, Scarlet,” Billy growled. “So what will Snowy do to us?”
“Oh, she won’t,” Scarlet chuckled. “I will. I sentence you to be banned from… wait. Who’s the wolf behind you?”
“My name is–” I was interrupted by Billy.
“She’s not responsible for any of this. I dragged her in here. Don’t punish her; she doesn’t deserve it.”
Scarlet eyed me and scowled. “You’re not supposed to be here, Dreamer. We better get you out. Come with me. Your punishments will not be harsh since Billy Joe dragged you into this. Let’s go.”
As we were walking, I asked Billy why he risked his reputation for me. “We had a deal, kid,” he said, patting me on the back. “You helped me haul my four hundred twenty-one presents. So it’s only fair if I help you, too.”
“Thanks, dude.”
“Don’t mention it.”
