A Sticky Situation

OMG! Here’s a funny story that once happened to me. The names have been slightly changed. Well, not all of it is true (the last part never happened). Enjoy!

I was in second grade, and I was at my friend’s house. Her name was Ava. My friend Kayla was also there. The two were in first grade. Ava was pretending to cook something with her kitchen set, and Kayla was giving her instructions.

“Hey!” Kayla raved. “We’re out of MILK! GO GET SOME!”

I was just staring at Kayla. I thought, “Seriously? Kayla is so bossy!”

Ava nodded and rushed to get an empty carton of milk from the refrigerator. She poured it on her pizza. “Gross!” I scrunched up my nose. “Why are you putting milk on your pizza?” Ava didn’t reply.

“Here’s a joke,” said Kayla. “Why did the chicken cross the playground?”

“Oh, this is so obvious,” Ava said to herself. 

“To get to the other side…” I moaned. I wasn’t having fun.

Ava accidentally spilled some water on the carpet. She rubbed her finger on it, spilled a little more, and stepped on it. Splash!

Kayla thought it was a good idea, so she brought a whole bucket of water and dumped it on the carpet. Ava and Kayla started jumping. Kayla slipped and fell. Ava’s dad came to check on us.

“Ava…? Is everything okay in there?” he asked.

“YES, DADDY!” Ava said as she stood against the door. Kayla was still pouring lots of water on the carpet. 

Ava tried to make sure her dad did not come in. “Aadya, why don’t you try it?” said Kayla. “It’s fun!”

I put my foot on top of the water stain. “Ahh! It’s so cold!” I immediately jerked my foot away. Kayla giggled.

“AVA! OPEN THE DOOR!” screamed Ava’s dad.

Ava slowly opened the door. It creaked as it slowly opened. I saw Ava’s dad’s head peak in.

He gasped. “What is going on?”

“IT WAS AADYA’S IDEA!” screamed Kayla.

So, I had to talk with Ava’s dad. Great. ARE WE HAVING FUN YET?
